#tbt “That Time We Were Featured on the Long Island Medium!”

Primelite Mfg’s #throwbackthursday moment this week is revisiting our guest starring role in the reality TV series Long Island Medium. While we did not commune with relatives and friends long gone, we were able to bring a beautiful glow to the face, and bouffant, of the Medium herself, Theresa Caputo.

In fact our vanity light fixtures, #4036 and #4044, take a starring role in the Medium’s newly designed dressing room, surrounding her vanity with flattering illumination.

You can see our fixtures prominently featured in the video and screenshots below.

#tbtPrimelite: While researching our collection of antique Primelite catalogs we’ve come across original black and white photographs featuring some of our early lighting fixtures. The photos are stunning and we’ll be sharing these photos in our weekly #tbtPrimelite series.

This week we are highlighting a hanging fixture from our “Scintillating Cracked Glass Globe” series from the 1960s. Always popular, these fixtures definitely reflect the styles of the time with globes available in crystal, topaz, tangerine and lime! Available finishes included “Satin Flemish” and Polished Brass. “Scintillating” indeed!

Juvenile Gems: Tin Man / 1970s

#tbtPrimelite:
Another blast from Primelite’s past! Today we’re again highlighting our “Juvenile Gems” selection of 1970s children’s globes. An earlier #tbt of children’s lights featured “Raggedy Ann” and clowns. This later 1970’s catalog introduced additional characters including the “Tin Man,” inspired by “The Wizard of Oz.” Our children’s lights were also now available as ceiling/hanging and desk lamps.

Primelite continued working with a local artist who hand painted each face/globe. The fixtures were then hand constructed and assembled in our warehouse. These fixtures were primarily used in children’s bedrooms and were popular throughout the ’70s decade.

#tbtPrimelite: While researching our collection of antique Primelite catalogs we came across original black and white photographs featuring some of our early lighting fixtures. The photos are stunning and over the upcoming weeks we will be sharing these photos in our weekly #tbtPrimelite series.

This week we’re highlighting fixture #7312, a 12 candelabra chandelier. As you can see this is old school photography. It does appear that the light reflections on the glass shades were “enhanced.” But rather than the digital magic of today, these light reflections & glow appear to have been actually painted on the photo! As was common in the days before Photoshop. Old school photo touchups and special effects were done by hand and on the actual photo! By artists! Something that is now long gone.

Anyway, chandelier #7312 came with 12 6 x 60 watt candelabras, glass shades and was available in different finishes; Polished Brass, Old English, and Pewter.

#details #details #details: Its said that perfection is all in the details! Upon closer reflection you can see traces of the actual photographic shoot. Look closely at the brass globe at the bottom of the chandelier and you can see the reflection of the photo studio where the photo was shot. Now look closely at a candelabra. You can see the painted highlights on the glass shade and candelabra bulb. Another artistic touch from a very talented retoucher.
