LED-ing The Way

“As the 20th century was lighted by incandescent bulbs, the next hundred years is likely to be dominated by LED lamps…” *

Back in the 1990’s the work of 3 Japanese scientists led to the invention of the blue light-emitting diode, or LED. Last week the The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences awarded the 2014 Nobel Prize in Physics to those 3 scientists – Isamu Akasaki, Hiroshi Amano, and Shuji Nakamura.

“This year’s Nobel Laureates are rewarded for having invented a new energy-efficient and environment-friendly light source – the blue light-emitting diode (LED). In the spirit of Alfred Nobel the Prize rewards an invention of greatest benefit to mankind; using blue LEDs, white light can be created in a new way. With the advent of LED lamps we now have more long-lasting and more efficient alternatives to older light sources…The invention of the blue LED is just twenty years old, but it has already contributed to create white light in an entirely new manner to the benefit of us all.”**

Primelite Manufacturing would like to send our congratulations to these scientists, and also a thanks for helping our industry move forward with better, longer-lasting and more efficient lighting sources.

Primelite has been at the forefront of bringing LED lighting to outdoor lighting, including the industry’s first exterior LED Gooseneck light. We continue LED-ing the way with a full line of LED compatible exterior Gooseneck, Angle Shade fixtures and Euro Style Wall Sconces. Each of these fixtures are now available fitted with our LED Lights, including LED Light Engine #1024 and LED Light Array, offering you the latest in LED technology and savings; both in energy and electricity costs.

Primelite Manufacturing will continue to LED the lighting industry into the future as we develop, test and bring new LED fixtures to the marketplace. We invite you to inspect our catalog for our full line of LED lights, fixtures, power supplies, ballasts, and other LED supplies
